Skilful

In this mission, we confront you with the great Phil Ivey who seems to see through your cards.Tell us your reaction!

You are in the Battle of Malta Main Event, Day 2.

You have 35 blinds. @Phil Ivey has just sat down at your table.

MY REACTION

The dealer is kind to you and gives you K♥K♦.

You raise 2.5 BB from UTG.

Phil, UTG +1, calls and all the other players fold.

The flop reveals A♣K♠9♦.

You bet (bet size is up to you).

I bet 6bbs .... leaving 26.5bbs in my stack.

He looks at you with his famous inscrutable poker face and says out loud:

“I know you have a pair of Kings in hand.”

MY REACTION

He stares at you for a few more seconds and pushes a pile of chips in.

“I raise”, he says. (About twice your bet.)

MY REACTION

WHAT DO YOU DO?

So if Phil really thought I had KK would he tell me?

Well if I think he thinks... I have KK then I fold ? Well that's a bit dumb of Phil to make me do that if he has AA... but wait... Phil's not dumb... Maybe he's drawing... maybe he is playing a jedi mind trick on me and wants me to fold... or maybe he just has top set after all!

I can't read the live tell so I decide to ignore it and am left with the reality of the situation at hand...

I have 26.5bbs. I have second set on the flop, and this was a single raised pot preflop...

I SHOVE OVER THE TOP...

MY REACTION

Then suddenly realise what I've just done...

MY REACTION

and start reaching for my autograph book.....

haha, nice

thanks mate!

Phil just got in touch and invited me to take a look at his training site! So I guess he liked my entry

i didn't think I would actually get to speak to Phil Ivey during this hand for real ;)

Unibet Sat for tomorrow's games. I'm raring to go.

Pull up a chair and prepare to make me some dough!

First hand funny, i think this is genna be alright!

All in preflop you know, crazy game!

So I'm sitting cruising biding my time. I fire up some Rocky. Got to get into the right mind.

Patience of a warrior. This was the task. Wait for the moment, it will come, just wait.

Bang up it came. 120 raise from that crazy guy, a call, and then I with my controlled agression attack this crowd.

AK, shove, all in preflop. Patience rewarded. I got this job!

Well what do you know smashed in by a mortal blow my Unibet dreams lay tattered on the ground.

This is poker. This is our game.

Tomorrow, as they say, is another day!

haha good luck everyone ;)

10k Challenge Days 1 & 2

Hey everyone, I just finished the first 4k hands of my 6 month challenge I started 2 days ago.

My goal was to play 4k hands a day, but on day 1 I decided to take it slowly and focus on the tilt work I was doing and also ease myself back in because i hadn't played cash grinding wise for a while.

On day 1 I spent time looking into the idea of habits being made of cues, having routines and rewards like a cycle. A habit starts with a cue and then there's some unconscious routine you use to satisfy it and provde some reward.

Mike Gano talked about this over on his blog, http://pokerinabox.com/change-your-habits-and-win/ and I've used the ideas to put my own tilt improvement plan together, so far so good. I knew it was important to spend time on this as it is the weakest part of my game.

I ended up playing just 300 hands on day one, so at about midnight last night i worked hard to get some hands in to kick things off and played 2 sessions and i've just finished (wasn't stopping until i hit the 4k mark!)

So i've played 4069 hands so far at 5nl, will update again at around the 10 k mark.

Was thinking I will put a 10k profit milestone on the challenge as a first big milestone so have added that now

Day 1 and 2: +60$ ; Br: $160 / $10,000

Have a great Monday!

#6monthgrind

you got this man! Hope you smash it and get a great return

love the stuff about "cues", i try to recognize cues or "triggers" and try to disrupt them with some logical reasoning.

Best of luck with your grind btw, onwards and upwards : )
