10k Challenge Days 1 & 2

Hey everyone, I just finished the first 4k hands of my 6 month challenge I started 2 days ago.

My goal was to play 4k hands a day, but on day 1 I decided to take it slowly and focus on the tilt work I was doing and also ease myself back in because i hadn't played cash grinding wise for a while.

On day 1 I spent time looking into the idea of habits being made of cues, having routines and rewards like a cycle. A habit starts with a cue and then there's some unconscious routine you use to satisfy it and provde some reward.

Mike Gano talked about this over on his blog, http://pokerinabox.com/change-your-habits-and-win/ and I've used the ideas to put my own tilt improvement plan together, so far so good. I knew it was important to spend time on this as it is the weakest part of my game.

I ended up playing just 300 hands on day one, so at about midnight last night i worked hard to get some hands in to kick things off and played 2 sessions and i've just finished (wasn't stopping until i hit the 4k mark!)

So i've played 4069 hands so far at 5nl, will update again at around the 10 k mark.

Was thinking I will put a 10k profit milestone on the challenge as a first big milestone so have added that now

Day 1 and 2: +60$ ; Br: $160 / $10,000

Have a great Monday!

you got this man! Hope you smash it and get a great return

love the stuff about "cues", i try to recognize cues or "triggers" and try to disrupt them with some logical reasoning.

Best of luck with your grind btw, onwards and upwards : )

Today marks a big step forward in my poker game. Long story short, (you can read the longer story on my blog if you want, lol). I have tried to do well at poker most of this year. It hasn't worked out due to bad discipline at the table. I did a weeks work for someone recently on and off and he ended up changing terms halfway through and generally messed me about, it was a small bit of work but opened my eyes to how good it is to be working for yourself, or even better pursuing your ambitions etc instead of working and letting your energies go into something your heart isnt it.

So I decided to really make a go of poker again. I just entered a stake/profit share deal with a friend and he's going to coach me for free in return for a split of my profits. For a 6 month period.

One of my inspirations for a while has been Han's the Great he achieved insane results in 9 months ($50 to $100k) grinding cash.

Sure he is Hans the Great. and probabally one of the best grinders in the world, but it shows what can be done and is an inspiration too. Today (now, as I'm about to play my first session!) marks the first day of my renewed attempt to really get somewhere with this game.

I'm going to play cash for 8 hours a day starting at 5nl and take 1 day off per week, and will update in my blog on RH to let you know how it's going. I'm also going to be working on my mental game every day... because... The mind is where it's at. Anyway enough talk...

Have a great weekend!

gl sir

All the best dude : ) I love to see people setting goals and targets and love to see them reaching the goals even more...Poker Gods beware...we're coming to take your jobs hahahaha

haha b165l1ck75 i like it. Thanks guys, yeah it's all about the journey i think, not so much about the prize at the end, but who you become on the way! So far so good. Haven't played as much as i wanted to but i think probabally not a bad thing, I quit when i felt tired, and spent time studying. Have been working hard on my mental game too last day or two and realised something important about my tilt lately (yesterday when i started to tilt I did an excercise i prepared before to help figure out why i'm tilting)... realised something that I think will help me alot, will try it out for a week or so and if it works will let you know more about it :)
