Malta Fund! Day 0

Hey Hero's

About a month ago I was fortunate to win a trip to BOM thanks to Ranking Hero and #pokerlistings

This means in November I get to travel to Malta and play in the biggest poker tournament i've ever played, a  €550 buy-in event with a €500,000 guarantee.

I have already been contacted by #BOM (the tournament director no less! - Ranking Hero do not do things by half!) and have been wished great luck  - she said she hopes I take it down.

Also I was told there will be plenty of side events and also the possibility to rebuy into the Main Event once - so I've decided to get some serious funds together!

In order to make sure I make the most out of this here is my plan: -

(1) Get very good at poker.

(2) Get a fund together so I can enjoy some side events too!

(3) Make an effort at getting into better physical shape

point 3 isn't essential but the BOM miletsone seems like as good an opportunity as ever ;)

My plan over the next 4 or so months is to play poker and play it well, starting at 10nl and move up when I have 20 or more buy-ins. I've recently got my 4nl stats and I beat 4nl for about 8bb/100 over 120k hands so think it's time to move up. I've managed to get a good partnership going with a friend who I did some work for before who is a professional poker player that he will coach me in return for me working on web development work. Which is one of the reasons I'm typing this at 3.10am as we've been discussing our arrangement for the last few hours :P So for the forseable future I will have cash game coaching, which will help me alot I'm sure with the various lines I might encounter at BOM even though it's a MTT. Then in September/October I will also start focussing more on improving my MTT play. Importantly playing cash between now and November will help me to build my Malta Fund.

Here is my plan: -

I've left weekends out to give me a chance to catch up and get back on track if I need to but also take some time off if I don't. So by the time November is here I should have 3.5k in my Malta Fund, and also be the best poker player I have ever been in my life ready for a good run! - I've also sent off for the paperwork to get my passport today so will be able to order that in about 3 weeks when I'm next due some cash.

Lastly I'm going to be doing some web design and digital marketing alongside my poker to get some income, and that is basically going to be my plan for the next 4 months!

No matter what happens when November comes I want to say I have done the best job I could have done to take full advantage of this awesome opportunity.

So that's me for #MaltaFund day 0! I'll likely post an update on Day 1 at end of tomrorow and then a regular update once every 7 days or so! Hope you are all having a great week (and about to have a great weekend) - and moving forwards with your own poker journeys, wherever they might be!

Thanks @Nicolas Levi !

@Annie RKH good question, i'd ask them... (1) what they did when they weren't at the table (did they do anything consciously away from the table to help them get as far as they did) and (2) what do they think enabled them to do so well, be it a technical part of their strategy, or mindset, or anything else!

Best of luck.

Thanks @Jason Kiselis
