BoM2015: Friday 20:55

The second lot of dinner breakers are 15 mins away from returning.
I just overheard a couple of the PokerListings media team talking about a guy who mis-understood the TD who told everyone about how the dinner breaks.

The whole field goes on a break after lv 6, half of them return after 15mins, to then have dinner 45 mins later after playing level 7. The other half come back after 1 hour, and play level 7 whilst the first half have dinner. Got it?

The TD explained this, and clearly announced the table numbers at least 3 times. There cannot be a language barrier, because I think I've heard every language spoken in this room, certainly every major European language!
In addition the field is really friendly, so you can always ask someone what's going on.

Short version: This guy went on dinner at the wrong time and came back to an hour of blinding out at 300/600/75. Apparently he went batshit, and was throwing chips around and royally kicking off.

Everybody else today and yesterday managed to comprehend Elio when he made the announcements, so I think it's fair to say this guy just needed to pay attention/ask!

BoM2015: Friday 18:15

Just happened to be walking past a table and saw a guy open jam a 30+bb stack from utg with 99. QQ snapped him off and he wandered off looking wounded.

So... if you wonder why it is worth trying to qualify for packages from mid-buyin events when you are a microstakes player, there's an example of the best reason I can give you- THESE FIELDS ARE NOT AS TOUGH AS YOU'D THINK!!

BoM2015: Friday 18:30

Players are on their last level before the first round of dinner breaks.
We have been having major wifi issues, so apologies for sparse posts!

I have managed to track down two Manchester boys in Malta, Kay Brown and Leon Mullineaux.
I caught up with Kay as he was playing a hand, he raised pre and got three callers, flop was 779, he barrelled and one came along. He barrelled again on the 9 turn, and he won a nice pot.

I thought his new hoody was quite funny, but then he showed me his t-shirt, which said "I'm in Malta, Bitch." Yeah gurl, yeah you are!

Sounds like Kay has had a very sick year. He came 3rd in the Sunday Million on PStars, which is a $215 MMT that attracts thousands of players every Sunday. It is a very, very tough field, and to run that deep deserves MASSIVE kudos!

He then took his bestie, Leon Mullineaux to Vegas, and it sounds like they both smashed it up, with +$20k of cashes between them!

Good work lads!

Leon has come to Malta to rail/support Kay, but he says he'll be playing in some side events. I told him about the "Win The Button" event, which is 150 euro to enter. It a great format for agressive players because when you win a hand, you will be the button the next hand; if you win five hands on the bounce, you will be the button five times in a row!

If you are a bit of a nit, this format will be very good training for you, because you will get sick of being the big blind eventually!

I'm sure the boys will be enjoying the sun and sea this weekend; anyone else from the North of England wish they were here?

BoM2015: Friday 17:00

Players have just returned from their break, 732/782 left.
The total entries is around 1700, it's hard to be more specific as people are still registering, they can enter up to the end of the next break, the end of level 6.

I bumped into @Maria Ho in the toilets at the break, and asked her how she busted yesterday. She said she was a bit of a target, other players keen to knock her out, for the story no doubt!

I've just spotted Fatima De Melo and I wonder if she feels like she is a target too! She was sitting on starting stack and looked a bit pissed off, so maybe she's having a wounder. I watched her play a pot and she had six limpers to her BB, so it looks like people are hungry to take a famous head.

Her is a picture of her, this is not what she is wearing at the poker tables today.

BoM 2015: 16:00

Interesting bit of controversy on Table006, I've come across this rule and associated controversy before.

Four players in the hand on the turn, 1st to act checks, 2nd to act cold folds, and the dealer tells him he should not. The poor old dealer then gets loads of stick.

"Why can't we do it?"
"Can you do it online, yes or no?"

The dealer did say something that is guaranteed to rile up poker players:
"You can do it, but you should not, and I think you will get penalty."
Poor some fuel on the fire, why don't you?

I'll say the same as I say to all dealers, and do when I'm dealing, if the players are whining, get the TD, don't bother arguing with them.

I asked the dealer for clarification on the specific rule on this for this tournament, as rules are not, whatever players think, uniform around the world. He repeated "he can but he shouldn't", which is definitely not a rule!

I hunted down Elio Capuccio who is the James Bond Baddy looking TD for BoM.
He clearly stated that it is not allowed here, and asked me why any player would even want to do this!
I had to tell him I did not know...

Would you do that, cold fold a hand to no action? Why? What sort of circumstances would make it sensible?

Elio Capuccio

Ahah Nice pic !!!

He's such a lovely guy, and he really knows his stuff!
I told him that he looked like a James Bond Baddy, and he told me he has been an extra in a James Bond movie! He's a movie star TD!!

BoM2015: Friday 15:25

After the first walk around the floor, it's fair to say the pots are generally staying quite small at this point, half way through level 2.

I saw an interesting hand on table 17. I arrived at the table when the flop was down (9h 7c 6h), and three players were live. Pot was 1200.

First to act thought for a moment and then checked, and the next chap bet 400, both players called.

Turn 5h.

First to act checked, but this time he did it quickly, the same guy bet 700 and both players called.

River 2h.

First to act bets 3k, second to act calls, third to act calls. The first guy flips Ah10h for the nut flush, and both other players muck. Only one of those guys can have had Kh, right? How did the nut flush get paid twice there??
I really expected the first guy to turn a straight flush and the other two to have the A and K...

Admittedly, I did not see the pre-flop action in this case, but I don't understand how players get so involved so early... am I just a super nit?

Can anyone suggest to me what either of those two guys called that riv bet with??

Roll the dice on a four flush in lv2? No thanks!

BoM2015: Friday 14:25

Day1c has just started here, there was a bit of a delay as there are so very many people piling into the casino to play!

There are already 665 entrants and after 15 mins of play, one elimination!! (He legged it, embarrassed, probably!)

@Maria Ho opened the day by marching in with a team of soldiers in full battle regalia, she gave a short speech about the history of BoM and the pride that the Maltese and the organisers have in this tournament, as they should!

Yes, that is a leather skirt with a zip up the front. Amazing.

A suit of armour in this weather? Sweaty balls o'clock!

The field is so busy, I'm going to scoot about and see if I can come across any interesting hands, I'll post anything sick/hilarious/thought provoking.
If you've got any friends in the flight today, let me know and I'll try to find out what they're up to!

i Think, Kai Brown and Leon Mullineux Are playing from Manchester Kat!

Cheers Hoops, I've got my eyes peeled for any faces I know.
Nice post on here about your hands btw, shared it on Twittter, will help newer players understand what they should be thinking about. Nice one!

#BoMRKH2015

Day one in the bag, literally! I've bagged 113 700 and the average is 75000, which gives me a little bit of settling room at the start of day2 on Saturday.

I have played well and run well today, let's hope both those conditions continue into day 2!

I have missed a few value spots today, and I need to get on top of that for Day2, as the field thins, the overall standard increases and every bit of value counts so much more than on Day1.

Cannot lie, I am shattered! Live poker is very draining, so I am going to hunt down a beer and then go to bed with a book, I am the epitome of party animals, non?

I'll be buzzing about tomorrow helping/annoying Remi with updates, I'll be hunting the field for micro-fish qualifiers like me, looking for a great bink story!

Cheers for following today, and thanks for all the love on here, Twitter and FB, much appreciated!

Now approaching final level.

Won two significant pots, was correctly stubborn against a massive stack that was moved to my table. Called him with 67 on 795 10 4, he was surprised, they all think they can bully the boobs.

Took down a messy pot against Stuart (pictured). I opened for 3k on 600/1200/200 and he said "raise to 3k". The dealer enforced min raise and I flatted. I teased him about angle shooting, but he's a dead nice guy, so I believe he wasn't, which is what he claimed.

He checked flop, I donked for 5500 and he clicked it (playing the angle accusation well?). I flatted, the turn paired the board and he checked, I put him all in for 30k and he passed. I showed QQ.

Stack: 108000 (AV 62000)

hoho the big one!

BoM2015: Thursday 23:15

Table is getting busy in level 10. We're about to have a break, then play 2 more levels.

I'm 30k above average with 88k. I've taken a few pots on flop and pre, my image is rock solid, and I'm table chip leader, so they are staying right out of my way.

I'm trying to stay out of harms way, and not double a short stack with shite.
