I was thinking recently. The real skill in poker is being able to lose well. I mean when we are winning it's a very easy game right? You are playing well and your hands are holding and it seems like the easiest game in the world!

If you start losing in the short term though that's when the real test of your ability as a player kicks in. Anyone can play well (if they know how to) when they are winning. But it takes a special breed of player to continue to play well no matter what the short term swings they are experiencing :)

Next time I play I'm going to keep this in mind, and if I do start to lose a few hands or buy-ins I'm going to use the session as a opportunity to practice losing well!

Because when all is over, the short term results are as arbitrary as what you get dealt in any one hand! :P

Good luck if you're playing today!

Feel free to practice losing against me

I think you are right its a hard earned skill to turn the other cheek and carry on uneffected when a couple of bad beats get you in short succession.

I like to have a small break when I start muttering to myself about things going wrong.

"Feel free to practice losing against me" haha

Good advice about taking a break!
