SKYCITY Auckland hosted a Poppy Day collection on 17 April where players from SKYCITY’s sponsorship teams, including the Breakers, Vodafone Warriors and the Blues, gathered to help collect for Auckland RSA. Check out these great pictures to see the SKYCITY staff collection, as well as the special military vehicle that was parked on Federal Street for the day.
The Sky Tower has a 13-metre poppy projected onto its side for the first time in its 17-year history, to commemorate SKYCITY’s second annual Poppy Partnership with the Auckland Returned & Services Association.
The Sky Tower will remain lit from Poppy Day on 17 April to Anzac Day on 25 April. The poppy emblem will be projected onto the south-east side of the tower so it is visible to attendees at the Anzac Day dawn service at the Auckland War Memorial Museum. The lighting was officially unveiled by Dame Trelise Cooper, Patron of the Auckland RSA.

We have so much to celebrate at SkyCity Grand Hotel which has just turned 9 and now has the new Preimum Luxury Rooms on sale! What features do you most value when staying at a hotel?
Have you noticed how royal the Sky Tower has been looking this week?
We’re celebrating the royal visit and we are lighitng the Sky Tower purple as Kate, Will and baby George make their way around the country!
The Sky Tower was lit up blue in July 2013 to mark the birth of Prince George and SKYCITY Auckland is proud to continue this tradition.
Thanks Shaun Jeffers Photography for these great shots.
Were you wondering why the Sky Tower was lit red last night? SKYCITY Auckland celebrated the fundraising success of firefighters around the country as they met their first milestone of $250,000 for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand. Watch this space as we continue towards the $1million mark. Thanks Shaun Jeffers Photography for these great snaps.
The Sky Tower will be lit up red tonight in recognition of firefighters all over New Zealand who have worked hard to raise $250,000 for the Firefighter Sky Tower Stair Challenge! Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand does some amazing work in local communities supporting patients and families, so let’s get behind all the brigades as they count down to racing up 1,103 stairs of the Sky Tower and work hard to raise the target of $1 million!
