Thuan 'Scotty' Nguyen is the only poker player to date to win both the WSOP Main Event and the $50,000 buy-in H.O.R.S.E Championship (Poker Players' Championship after 2010). He has won 5 World Series of Poker bracelets and one WPT title.
The hand that won Scotty one million dollars in 1998 is still considered one of the most interesting ones in WSOP history. It is also when his signature 'baby' tagline gained fame. In the final hand, Scotty taunted his opponent, Kevin McBride, with the now classic line, '"Call it and it will be all over, baby".
Nguyen's biography reads like a Hollywood movie script, complete with tragedy and comedy, addiction and recovery, big money and big losses. Born in Vietnam as the eldest of 13 children, he was barely 14 when he arrived in America and soon discovered underground poker. At the age of 19 he moved to Las Vegas where he did all kinds of small jobs and from bussing tables and dealing went on to playing full time and living at Caesar's Palace.
Scotty Nguyen has since lost and rebuilt his bankroll many times, earning legendary status and the nickname 'The Prince of Poker'.
