Born in Indonesia, John Juanda came to the United States as a student and stayed on as professional poker player whose trophy cabinet now holds five WSOP bracelets.
Juanda's competitive nature was revealed in high-school and he was a talented athlete, excelling in the 200m sprint and 5,000m race. He studied marketing and management at Oklahoma State University and went on to earn an MBA at Seattle State University before taking up poker full-time.
Despite his success in the World Series of Poker, he has never won a World Poker Tour main event. He has a total of $16,000,000 in live tournament winnings, of which nearly $5 million from WSOP.
