It took only about five hours to reduce the field of the European DeepStack Poker Championships from 29 players to the final 9 and each of them already has €4,300 guaranteed. The action resumes tomorrow as of 12:00 local time on the live stream table in the Regency Hotel in Dublin and Joost Schippers from the Netherlands has accumulated an almost 2-1 lead over Jonas van Bogaert and Jaroslav Tjepan.
Not everyone sat down yet and we already had the first seat open. Laura Carroll as last woman in the field got her stack in with AhJc versus 8h8c and could not improve on the Board Qd7h6c9cKd. Patric Huemmerich followed only a minute later in the second hand of the day when his KcKs got cracked by JdJh on the Board 7c5cJs2c6h after the money went in preflop. Con Collins pushed Queen-Jack into Ace-King and Eric Smellers stood no chance with Queen-Nine versus Queen-Jack.
The first big pot of the day saw the elimination of Cristian Ragusitu after the Romanian defended his Big Blind with Pocket Jacks, spiked a set on the Turn but lost against the flopped second nutflush of Jaroslav Tjepan with KcQc. Daniel Devlin three-bet shoved with AsQh and got called by Mathieu Wullaert with AdQc - what looked like an almost certain split pot delivered the fourth club on the River and the local hero was gone. Steven Lenaerts followed in 23rd place and Chris Jupp had to settle for 22nd after his Ah7c drew slim versus the AcQc of Wullaert once the Belgian flopped the nut straight.
Dominique Peyres made a costly mistake after not realizing the all-in of Johannes van Leeuwen and had to call off with 5c4c to get crippled against Pocket Kings. He bowed out only a couple of hands later, Tom Kitt reshoved 11 Big Blinds with Pocket Eights into the Ace-King of Lennert van Leemput and joined him on the rail. After the eliminations of Yannic Zycha and Gil Bonvini, Jonas Becker finished in 17th place. The German started with only 5 Big Blinds and turned that into 2 Million before losing with Queens versus Ah9s and then shoving Kc3d into the AdTc of Jonas van Bogaert.
The Belgian took the lead after four-betting preflop with Pocket Kings and initial raiser Lars Krogh cold called with Sevens to go broke on a 6 high Flop. The start-of-the-day Chipleader from Denmark lost the rest of his stack two hands later in a battle of the blinds. Lennert van Leemput found Aces in the Big Blind to knock out Robbert Vandenriessche in 15th place before the next setup would cause the seat open for Ken Bury. He picked up KdKc in the Small Blind and four-bet to 905,000 before calling the five-bet shove of Joost Schippers to see the Dutchman turn over AhAc.
Eoin Starr sent Johannes van Leeuwen to the rail but the Irishman only finished one spot better after getting his stack in with As9s against the Pocket Tens of Cummins. The four-bet shove of Sam Gilbert for 985,000 with AsQs was not crowned by success as Jaroslav Tjepan made the call with 9d9s to end up victorious on a roller coaster Board TsAdJh9c6c. Jensen van Reeth then bowed out in 10th place after min raising with As7s and calling all-in against the AhKh of Jaroslav Tjepan.
