Sunday Million: Andras "probirs" Nemeth nabs win, takes $164K after three-handed deal

The Hungarian Andras "probirs" Nemeth is no stranger to big final tables on PokerStars, having made plenty of them in the past including a year ago when winning a SCOOP title in a $109 no-limit hold'em event. Nemeth can now add a Sunday Million title to his collection of triumphs, having won this week's installment of online poker's most popular tournament, earning $164,244.32 after a three-way final table deal.

A big turnout of 6,725 for this week's $215 Sunday Million meant a prize pool of $1,345,000 that ultimately was divided by the top 990 finishers. It took about 10 hours and 15 minutes for that big field to work all of the way down to just 18 players, at which point DaNutttR led the way with a stack approaching 9 million.

eddycadub (18th), Chop_Chop96 (17th), and Bobba Gee (16th) were the next eliminated, earning $3,766 apiece. TakeAJack (15th), philipoo (14th), and Knightsgeee (13th) went out after that, picking up $5,649 each. Then cooltwister (12th), MrRabanne (11th), and Zilkar "vonbaranow" Baranow (10th) were subsequently knocked out, with those three each taking away $7,532 from the prize pool.

With Penelas08 the new chip leader with over 20 million, the final table was underway.

Seat 1: Paulo "tricotijr" Novaes (Brazil) -- 3,495,096
Seat 2: Daralon (Israel) -- 6,112,783
Seat 3: Hizzo222 (Sweden) -- 2,034,686
Seat 4: peceli (Uruguay) -- 1,339,879
Seat 5: DaNutttR (Romania) -- 12,724,255
Seat 6: Andras "probirs" Nemeth (Hungary) -- 9,105,632
Seat 7: Penelas08 (Czech Republic) -- 20,411,175
Seat 8: Cottonbud07 (United Kingdom) -- 8,711,192
Seat 9: wayneking123 (United Kingdom) -- 3,315,302

On just the second hand of the final table, the blinds were 100K/200K when DaNutttR raised to 400,000 from middle position, then Penelas08 three-bet to 1,225,555 from the cutoff. It folded to wayneking123 in the small blind who shoved all-in for 3,075,302, Paulo "tricotijr" Novaes then reshoved over that from the big blind for 3,455,096, DaNutttR folded, and Penelas08 called.

tricotijr: [As][Ah]
Penelas08: [Ad][Kh]
wayneking123: [Qd][Qh]

The board ran out [4s][Jh][6s][8s][8d], meaning Novaes' aces had held while wayneking123 was eliminated in ninth.

Just two hands after that, Penelas08 opened from middle position for 500,000 (2.5x), peceli reraised all-in from the big blind for 1,719,879, and Penelas08 called, turning over [Kd][Th] while peceli had [Ad][Jh]. The [Tc][2s][8d] flop hit the chip leader's hand, and after the [7c] turn and [4d] river, peceli was ousted in eighth.

About 20 minutes later, it was Paulo "tricotijr" Novaes open-raising all-in from the small blind and Daralon calling all-in for 3,471,503 (about 14 BBs) after posting the big. Daralon had [As][Ah] and appeared in good shape to double through Novaes' [Jd][Tc], but the board rolled out [4d][Jh][Th][8s][7d] to give the latter two pair and send Daralon railward in seventh.

The final six continued on into the second half of the tournament's 12th hour when Hizzo222 open-pushed from UTG for 3,084,117 (just over 10 BBs) with [Ks][Qh], got one caller in Andras "probirs" Nemeth sitting a couple of seats over with [9s][9h], and five cards later -- [7c][Jd][7s][3s][2c] -- Hizzo222 was out in sixth.

A little while after that Andras "probirs" Nemeth opened for just over the minimum to 672,000 from UTG, then DaNutttR reraise-pushed for 3,642,322 from the big blind and Nemeth called, showing [8c][8d] while DaNutttR had [Ad][9d]. The flop came [2d][Th][8h] to give Nemeth a set of eights, although the [5d] did open the backdoor to a saving flush for DaNutttR. But the river was the [Ah], and DaNutttR was sent railward in fifth.

Three hands later, Cottonbud07 pushed from the small blind for 4,581,384 (about 13 bigs) and Novaes called from the BB, turning over [5c][5h] while Cottonbud07 had [Ah][4s]. The community cards came [7h][Qs][Jc], then [3s], then [Ks], and Cottonbug07 was out in fourth.

Soon the final three then stopped the tournament for some deal talk, with Penelas08 still barely on top with 24,027,243, Paulo "tricotijr" Novaes next with 23,459,326, and Andras "probirs" Nemeth third with 19,763,431.

Both "ICM"-based figures and "chip chop" payouts were produced -- leaving $20,000 for which to play -- and relatively quickly all three agreed to the "ICM" numbers. The deal being made, play soon resumed.

Before too long, the blinds were 175K/350K when Penelas08 made it 875,000 to go from the small blind and Novaes called from the big. The flop came [6s][4s][6d], Penelas08 led for 855,225, Novaes raised to 2,384,555, Penelas08 reraised to 3,913,885, and Novaes called. Both then checked the [8s] turn, and Penelas08 checked again after the [3h] fell on fifth street. Novaes then pushed out a small bet of 389,785, prompting a big raise from Penelas08 that Novaes called all-in with the 8,754,364 he had left.

Novaes showed [6h][5s] for trip sixes, but Penelas08 had [Ac][6c] for the same hand with a better kicker, and Novaes was eliminated in third.

With that pot, Penelas08 had about a 2-to-1 chip lead to begin heads-up play with 44,964,446 to the 22,285,554 of Andras "probirs" Nemeth. But Nemeth soon closed the gap, then pushed ahead to almost 37 million to Penelas08's 30.3 million when the following hand took place.

The blinds were 200K/400K then, and after Penelas08 opened for an even 1 million from the button, Nemeth called. The flop came [8c][As][6h], Nemeth checked, Penelas08 bet 725,255, Nemeth check-raised to 1,890,323, and Penelas08 called. The turn then brought the [3c] and a bet of 4,454,090 from Nemeth, and Penelas08 made the call.

The river was the [Tc]. This time Nemeth shoved all-in, and Penelas08 called with the 22,948,033 left. Penelas08 had [Ad][6s], having flopped two pair. But Nemeth had [9h][7h] for a rivered straight to win the pot, the extra $20K, and the Sunday Million title.

Congratulations to Andras "probirs" Nemeth for outlasting more than 6,700 opponents to win this week's Sunday Million and over $164K. And kudos also to Penelas08 and Paulo "tricotijr" Novaes for making it to the three-way deal and ensuring themselves big paydays of nearly $150K each themselves.
