They would start the day second and ninth in chips but end first and second. Uruk17 and special 09 would survive Day One of the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) Event #32-L $55 PL Omaha 6-max, 5-stack tournament then after knocking down Jon "PearlJammer" Turner in fourth place, and NiTsuA19 in third, the two made a deal. Uruk17 came out fast in heads-up play eventually taking the title and $17,940.97.

Day One ended with 39 of the 2,545 starters still looking to stake a claim to a SCOOP championship. Among those still alive Jon "PearlJammer" Turner with multiple -COOP final tables but no bracelet or watch yet including a close call last year's Event #11-H runner-up finish.

Speaking of runner-up finishes EDWARDHOPPER had runner-up finishes in both the Sunday Warm-Up and Sunday Million and a run at the MicroMillions Player of the Series back in 2012. But, EDWARDHOPPER would have to settle for less than the gold once again finishing in the first hour back in 25th place ($521.72).

Three tables of six still remained after the first hour as caaaaamel took over the chip lead. Caaaaamel with several major final tables including the Super Tuesday, Sunday Warm-Up, and a near-miss in 2013 SCOOP Event #40-M falling to Ben "KidCardiff6" Warrington in the final heads-up match.

After the second hour Turner moved up to second in chips with nine players remaining. Two-time Super Tuesday champ Cashcid Linc was hanging on in eighth place while special 09 took over the chip lead holding 14.4 million to Turner's 11.2 million with blinds at 100K/200K.

Cashcid Linc's return did not last long, taken out on the first hand back by Uruk17 earning $1,527.00 in ninth place.

A stiff jab and an uppercut by Uruk17 would send two players out before they could even re-set the tables. First, sadam83's [Ks] [4h] [Ad] [Jh] all-in pre-flop would catch trips on the river but Uruk17's [8s] [7d] [Qd] [Ts] found a spade flush behind those trips [4d] [8d] [7s] [Qs] [4s] sending sadam83 off in eighth place ($1,527.00). The next hand, with the blinds up to 120K/240K, John Doe 808 [9d] [Qh] [Js] [Jd] tried to bluff Uruk17 [3c] [6c] [Ad] [4s] off a turned straight with a possible flush on the board [5s] [2s] [7h] [3s] [6h]. The tactic did not work as the final table's spotlight showed up below:

If Uruk17's stack did not have everyone's attention, consider this hand an air horn two inches from the final table's ear. With the blinds up to 160K/320K globallud limped in as Uruk17 raised to 1.28 million, caaaaamel called as globallud three-bet to 5.28 million. Uruk17 set everyone else all-in as caaaaamel ditched and globallud called with suited aces [3h] [Ac] [As] [4c]. But, Uruk17's double suited [Qc] [4d] [Ad] [Kc] found a couple of face cards to send globallud away in sixth place ($2,411.38).

Ten minutes into the new hour Uruk17 hold on the chip lead would only improve. As the blinds increased to 250K/500K caaaaamel would take a shot at Uruk17, trading raises until 10.6 million chips sat in the middle. Uruk17 showed aces [4s] [Ad] [Ac] [6c] while caaaaamel turned up kings [Js] [6s] [Kc] [Ks]. No special delivery on the [8c] [2s] [7d] [8s] [9h] board meant caaaamel was done in fifth place ($4,453.75).

About eight minutes later with the blinds holding, Turner would go for broke pre-flop. After trading raises with special 09, Turner would turn over [Kh] [Jd] [Ah] [6c] facing special 09's connected [8s] [Ts] [7h] [9h]. Despite flopping two pair and dodging the spades and hearts, a rivered straight [3s] [Jc] [As] [9d] [8d] would end Jon "PearlJammer" Turner's tournament in fourth place ($6,998.75).

Ten hands later, after the blinds moved up to 300K/600K NiTsuA19 would take a shot at special 09 getting all the chips in the middle pre-flop for a 13.4 million chip pot. No aces versus kings but rather kings versus jacks. NiTsuA19's kings [2s] [Kd] [Kh] [4d] would fall to special 09's jacks [Ad] [Js] [3s] [Jc] when the hanging ace hit the river [6d] [8c] [4h] [8h] [Ah] as NiTsuA19 earned $10,816.25 in third place.

It took one hand for the final two to realize the high blinds would make this a quick affair and struck the following deal nearly even in chips (Uruk17 leading 32.9 million to 30.6):

Uruk17 wanted to make this championship run short and sweet taking the first two hands of heads-up play and collecting 5.4 million and 10.8 million chip pots. Seven minutes later with the lead extended to 54.8 million versus 8.7 million for special 09, both players agreed to end things pre-flop. Pair of eights for special 09 [2d] [8s] [Ah] [8d] versus the [4c] [Th] [As] [Js] for Uruk17. This was mostly decided on the flopped boat for Uruk17 [Td] [Tc] [4h] [3c] [Kc] as the lack of runner-runner eights shipped the SCOOP 2016 Event #32-L title and $17,940.97 to Uruk17!
