'The Godfather of Poker', 'Texas Dolly' Doyle Brunson has been on the circuit for more than 50 years. He is a two-time World Series of Poker champion and is one of only four players who have won the Main Event in two consecutive years (1976 and 1977), He owns 10 WSOP bracelets and was the first player to win both a WSOP and a World Poker Tour title. He was inducted in the Poker Hall of Fame in 1988. Brunson is the author of several books, including the best-selling SuperSystem, considered by many as 'the bible of poker'.
Brunson was the first player to earn $1 million in poker tournaments and in 2006 was voted 'the most influential force in the poker world' by Bluff Magazine.
Brunson was first diagnosed with cancer in 1962, has beaten it several times, and his latest operation was in March 2015. Just one week out of surgery, TexDolly tweeted to his 400,000+ followers, he had played poker again and was "#ready4WSOP".
