Action Hero Mission Part 1

Your #ActionHero mission: make the right decisions!

We will reveal step by step a real hand from the 2008 EPT Sanremo. After each of our Mystery Hero’s moves, it will be up to you to choose the best course of action.

Sanremo 2008. It’s the end of Day 1 and the blinds are at 75/150. You are at your starting stack of 15,000 chips. Everyone passes to you on the button. The players in the blinds are two Italians - big-time gamblers, but hard to read.

Your starting hand: K♦ 3♥ . You decide to raise to 300 and the small blind, with a stack of 11,000, calls. The pot is now 750.

The Flop is Q♠ 9♥ 3♦ , villain checks.

It’s up to you now: do you bet and if yes, how much?

Post your answers in the comments below before Saturday, Dec 13th, 11:00 UK time, when our Hero’s next move will be revealed!

i bet 375, to control he is not in check raise i invest half a pot if he is ace high with Ax maybe will call only maybe without any point, otherwise he can pot control with A8 n medium pair. ... if he raise i fold.

#ActionHero while CBetting is not exactly a mistake, I think than checking behind is a better option :)

Reasons:

- that board hits villains range quite strongly, so he is unlikely to fold to a CBet

- any CBet from the BTN is gonna look quite weak anyway so he is again less likely to pass

- we have direct outs and backdoor outs so its better to give ourselves free card against unpredictable opponents

- if he is a "gambler" we dont wanna get check/raised and be forced to pass with ok equity

so, yeah, i check behind

100% check behind as the villain is known to be aggressive and has not donk bet- the fact he checks on a board where it may be that in the Hi-jack we could have open ended, two overs or a gutshot should be something to aware of. The villain also knows that it is very unlikely we have hit this board and a bet here in my opinion looks weaker than the check behind- It is very likely a bet of <450 get 3bet as he is out of possition and may not want to see any over to the board. A bet from us of 450>800 gets flatted and in either case expect a big donk bet from the Agressive italian.

Lets see a free card an see his play and maybe even increase our equity and keep our table image rather than Cbetting and folding to a big check raise only to find out the villain has a set of 9's or 10s Js meaning our King is dirty and could get us into trouble.  #ActionHero #SoulCrusher89 #AceHighPoker #FoldPre

Check behind is the play. Since villain is a gambler he will have wide pre flop range and this is the first part of the story, his calling range. He wont defend quite as wide as from the bb but as a base i would say his defend range is around TT-22,AJs-A2s,K5s+,Q7s+,J8s+,T8s+,98s,87s,76s,AJo-A5o,K9o+,Q9o+,J9o+,T9o.

We have just under 50% vs that range and as such we dont want to put money into the pot as the aggressor. Another point to note is if he is aggressive as we perceive he is then any hand that has flopped some sought of draw can c/r us off of our hand which is prob good at this point, T8,J8,JT,KT,KJ, and that is not including a pure bluff range that he most prob has as well.

We have a hand we want to get to showdown cheaply. So we should always check behind here. When we check behind we have to be very aware that we have now opened the door for his whole range to try and take us off our hand, i would continue onto the turn prepared to call most bets on most turn cards.

Another plus to checking behind is we give ourself a free card to hit one of our 5 outs if we are behind(assuming he hasnt flopped a set.)

Interesting debate already! @Mark Duguid suppose it's online and you Misclicked by accident, how do you continue with the hand?

I would bet the pot to see where I'm @ I have a pair and an over to the board. I may take it down right there. Or he calls I see a turn card or he raises and I fold

check behindwhen villain bets snap all in shove then do your best roberto (rubber toe ) joke an put the loudmouth flashy big betting italians in their place then when they snap call with qq just flip the table over and retire forever lol in all realness check fold SIMPLE #ActionHero  #foldpre
