Poker Nugget Mission Complete!

Ever since the end of July, we have been collecting nuggets of poker tips&tricks and the treasure chest is now full for your enjoyment and instruction! Some of the entries were funny, others were serious; there were those who chose an academic approach and others who shared stories from their personal experience. What all of these bits of poker wisdom have in common is that they are heartfelt, hard-learned, and last but not least, generously shared with all of us! Thank you!!!

Here is a small selection of gems from our collective poker treasure:

Making a bluff is much like having a sweet romance with a beautiful woman, you need to woe the intended into submission with graceful and well timed storytelling of how perfect a play master you are and follow through with a flawless display of commitment and confidence until the end.

So make sure your story stacks up, play with confidence and remain committed!

...For a bluff to work, your 'story' needs to be believable. The most believable stories have lots of believable details...

...So that's bluffing sorted, then: Pretend you're George Clooney for  couple of streets, but then actually be George Clooney on the river.

..if we are pre flop aggressor then bet flp and turn or check the flop bet the turn.....never check the turn or u are in trouble

John Thomson - Blog Post - Ranking HeroOn a paired flop or a flop with 2 suited cards, if we are pre flop agrressor then bet flp and turn or check the flop bet the turn.....never check the turn or u are in trouble, this is the most common mistake i have seen in the past month or so. #PokerNugget #tournament www.rankinghero.com

..the most important moment for both poker tells and behavioral information is when a player checks his cards and the immediate action following that.

Also, practice by watching your friends and coworkers in different situations, particularly stressful ones, or when they're telling stories. This is a great time to practice, and nothing is on the line.

If you want to know if you're being watched, wear a watch and check the time. It's contagious. If someone is watching you closely, they'll feel the need to also check the time or the tournament clock. It really works!

On a personal note, I'd like to give special mention to:

@DecoGTX for what is possibly the most interesting and instructive post - on the importance of the card checking moment;

@Wynford for the great Bluff Nugget quoted above;

@Jonny2192 and@Skilful for adding their videos to our collection;

and my own absolute favorite:

@Arty Mcfly with his (somewhat bitter) post on the brutality of tournaments which I cannot resist quoting here as a possible coversation re-starter :)

..It might even be argued that tourneys are just glorified coin-flipping games..

That's not to say that tourneys are completely terrible. They can actually be quite good fun, if you're some kind of masochist that likes sitting around for 8 hours with a bunch of subhuman mutants, one of whom will ultimately puke all over your dreams.

bravo boys and girlz

This comes as a nice surprise after I had a little downswing today. I will have to enter more of these competitions. I'm not so bitter now. :)

Loved reading through these, never read them all though so may have to come back to this as it was so informative and fun...And i won a patch, BOOOOOOOM!

Wp to all that took part

Well done everyone! & thanks for the nice words Annie!

All round to @Arty Mcfly house to play with the cards then, Patches for chips:)
