A Good Year for WSOP POY George Danzer

@George Danzer  was the only player in the world to capture two bracelets in Vegas this summer. With his third win from WSOP APAC in Melbourne, Danzer won the WSOP Player of the Year race against @Brandon Shack-Harris with 6 final tables (5 for Shack-Harris), 10 cashes (vs. 9), and 3 titles vs. the American's one win and two runner-up finishes in WSOP!

Even before his amazing WSOP summer, Danzer scored a first place in the EPT Monte Carlo and these FOUR first places from 7 final tables put him on top of one of the toughest national rankings in poker - the German one!

Danzer ranks 8th by earnings in 2014 within the phenomenal #GermanPoker team and with his 15 cashes is second only to @Ismael Bojang (18 ITM) in this respect in 2014.

George Danzer made this video to thank everyone for the support and good wishes but it seems that fans, too, have to thank him for being such a smiling and positive presence in the poker world!

Weekly RankingHero Highlights

A hot summer contest on RankingHero this week - our community voted for Top 3 hottest players and unsurprisingly, @Liv Boeree was the absolute favorite :) Poker's own cover girl is as smart and generous as she is beautiful, and we hope many will be inspired by the charitable cause she is promoting together with @Philipp Gruissem and @Igor Kurganov - Raising for Effective Giving.

Check out the entries under the #M2top3 hashtag (make sure you switch your language settings to Francais in order to see the submissions by our French-speaking members).

This week we honored three young stars of #GermanPoker :

George Danzer Only Exception in Total US Domination in WSOP 2014 Stats

Starved out of online poker opportunities, US players unsurprisingly flocked to Vegas by the thousands this summer. They accounted for 78,165 out of the total 82,360 entries. American players won $141,689,749 - 2.5 times the earnings of ALL other countries combined. Furthermore, they won a record 52 out of 64 bracelets. And yet, none of them managed a double win.  For the first time in the 21st century, the United States did not have a multiple bracelet winner in a single WSOP.

This is the only category where the first place is held by a national of another country and namely, Germany's @George Danzer who won #WSOP2014 Events 38 and 18. In fact, #GermanPoker had an excellent summer, considering the extraordinary WSOP performance of @Dominik Nitsche, as well:

I keep dreaming about this ->

Will the Next Triple Crown Go to Youngest Triple Bracelet Winner Dominik Nitsche?

@Dominik Nitsche: "After a great summer in Vegas, I will now also rock Barcelona"

Dominik's 2014 poker year is already marked by two record achievements: he became the first non-American player to win the WSOP National Championship (and the first bracelet of the year). He followed this up with a 1st place in NLHE WSOP Event 21. It gave him his third career bracelet and made him the youngest triple bracelet winner ever, at 23 years of age. We couldn't sum up his poker summer better than Dominik himself in this tweet:

2009, Latin American Poker Tour, Mar del Plata, Argentina:

2012, WPT Main Event, Johannesburg:

2012, EPT 9,San Remo, NLHE

2012, WSOP NLHE Event 59, first bracelet:

2014, WSOP National Championship, Atlantic City, second bracelet:

2014, WSOP Event 21, third bracelet:

Dominik Nitsche has posted a blog from Edinburgh where he is apartment-hunting and getting ready to rock at the centennial #EPT100 Main Event in Barcelona. A win would make Dominik the sixth #triplecrown winner in history and the first star of #GermanPoker to achieve the ultimate feat in poker!

wow and he is only 24 years old !  #gogogo Dominick Nitsche ! GL

Ole Schemion Took Home a Million+ Cash on his First Trip to Vegas

The 21-year-old German prodigy (and EPT Player of the Season) has had an amazing 2014 that led many to regard him as the best live tournament player in the world, most notably on account of cashing in all three top events - the Main Event, the High Roller, and Super High Roller - in three different stops in the same EPT season: Barcelonathe PCA, and Monte Carlo.

Poker journalists and fans had high expectations for his first WSOP this year and @Ole Schemion was even considered a potential favorite in the Big One for One Drop (which he never entered, however). His resume may still be missing a WSOP cash but his Vegas stay nevertheless ended in style, with a first place score in the 100K Super High Roller that took place at the @ARIA Resort & Casino on Friday, July 11th.

The latest $1,062,785 cash took his live earnings to $6,272,172 and Ole Schemion now ranks 4th in the Germany all-time earnings ranking, overtaking @Fabian Quoss. The only other player in the #GermanPoker Top 20 without a single WSOP cash is @Max Altergott (14th).

Happy Birthday Fabian Quoss!

A very happy birthday and lucky year to @Fabian Quoss and congratulations on topping the Germany 6-month Earnings Ranking!

The #GermanPoker community is a formidable force on the world live poker scene and the most successful one in Europe in terms of live earnings. Fabian has long been right up there with the likes of @Tobias Reinkemeier @Philipp Gruissem and @Ole Schemion but in the past 6 months he has shot up to the very top, with $2,405,791, bringing his total live earnings to $5,559,355.

The just turned 32-year-old Fabian was born in Nuremberg, Germany and lives in London. He started playing live events as a student in Germany and one of his finest poker achievements and a major cash of $427,912 dates back to 2009, when a bracelet was within his hand's reach and he finished second in a $5,000 buy-in event at 2009 WSOP.

The next career highlight came in 2010 when Fabian won the English Poker Open triumphing over a field of 193 players - “I’ve finally won a tournament! It’s my fourth heads up and I’ve lost the first three. The final table had a pretty high level of play, even compared to my WPT final table. It was pretty tough.”

In the year 2013 - that Fabian has called 'unlucky' because he didn't win a title - he made FOUR final tables. Then a title and two important cashes in 2014 alone nearly doubled up his career winnings: the 2014 PCA High-Roller Event victory and the 5th place in the Aussie Millions $250,000 Boutique Challenge.

"I feel that, after 2013, when luck wasn’t on my side, I kind of deserve it. In 2014 things will be different.”

And so they are indeed - GG and GL, Fabian :)

Happy birthday and Gl, Fabian!!! :)
