A new hero of #BGPoker has emerged - @Daniel Chutrov qualified online for €250, finished Day 1a as chip leader and then kept up his good run, leading throughout the tournament and finally besting a field of 211 for the @Unibet Open title and $65,762!
After the legendary Celtic Park, next stop in the Unibet Open is glamorous Cannes and the @Casino Barrière de Cannes Croisette, September 17-20! The latest champion, Daniel Chutrov is sure to be there and hopefully we'll have many RankingHeroes to root for, as well :)
The final hand:
Our own qualifier @B165L1Ck75 had an unfortunate short run but a long weekend of fun (apparently even meeting up with some of the @Ace-High Poker Group) in Glasgow and we hope to hear more about it from him! In fact, his KK running into AQ and a flopped flush in a major tournament certainly qualifies for the ongoing 'spectacular hand mission'.
Meanwhile, you may notice two other members of RankingHero in the Unibet Open Glasgow paid places - @Quentin Lecomte (24th) and our Last Longer winner from Unibet Open London, @Paulo Rodrigues, who finished 22nd :)
Quentin and Paulo are Unibet Open regulars and maybe we'll have the chance to see them again in UO Cannes in September? And who knows, there might be another fun competition on RankingHero and a second chance for @B165L1Ck75 :)

Please welcome to RankingHero a member of the up-and-rising #BGPoker community - @Rumen Nanev! The Number 5 on the BG all-time money list came into the spotlight last year in Vienna, when he was one of two Bulgarians to make it to the EPT Main Event final table. This year Vienna again proved lucky for Bulgaria during the 2015 partypoker WPT Main Event - Rumen finished 9th and the winner was his fellow countryman, based in Austria - @Vladimir Krastev!
Meanwhile, congrats on the latest cash in IPT Malta to Rumen and fellow Bulgarians, the winner of the $330 buy-in IPT Malta Cup, @Dimitar Bashov and @Kaloyan Chernikov (12th)! Keep them coming :)
In other RankingHero news, there's an ongoing Hand Replay contest where you can show off your analytical skills and share your best or worst hands with our Hand Replayer tool!
Or you can take part in our new Who Is Who challenge - the first photo is up, see if you can identify the masked poker celebs at this year's British Poker Awards!
Check out the amazing runs in the World Poker Tour of the three latest champions - @Anthony Zinno @Taylor Paur and @Ravee Mathi Sundar!
And if you're in Malta for the EPT, you'll appreciate the insider tips and advice from some famous resident pros:
Best of luck at the tables and looking forward to your updates!

Today @Antoan Katsarov was crowned champion of Pokerlistings Battle of Malta, prevailing over a field of 1,447 entries for $153,185! As runner-up, Malta's @Alan James Brincat starts his live tournament poker resume with a cash of $133,842. French pro and RankingHero member @Hugo Lemaire finished fifth. GG to the finalists and the organizers of the biggest tournament in Maltese history!
Bulgarian @Antoan Katsarov only has two recorded live tournament cashes. BOTH are wins. On June 1, Katsarov took down the inaugural Microgaming Poker Network Poker Tour (MPNPT) at @Aspers Casino - Westfield Stratford City, London.
Last night the remaining 12 players were given the choice of playing down to the final nine and continuing the battle the next day or playing until 5 am and deciding the winner by chip counts. They all opted for the latter and in the early morning hours the battlefield was down to Brincat and Katsarov.
At 5 am this morning the @Casino at Portomaso stopped the clock and the chip leader was awarded the Battle of Malta trophy:

Nice Finish GG!
Bulgarians arrived in Barcelona by the dozens and in high spirits. With numerous ITM finishes so far, one victory, one runner-up, and two survivors on Day 4 of the #EPT100 it looks like #BGPoker is thriving and that must be good news for the numerous fans of the game, as well as for the recently launched first legal poker website in the country - PokerStars.bg
The two most notable Bulgarian poker achievements so far in Barcelona:
@Plamen Stavrev won the inaugural EPT Seniors Event for $28,189, defeating Portugal's @Fernando Brito. You can read on about a decisive lucky river hand for Stavrev on the PokerStarsBlog.
The 27-year old Bulgarian from Kyustendil, @Vladislav Donchev finished second in the largest live freezeout tournament in PokerStars history, with a record field of 2,560 players: the Estrellas Poker Tour Main Event. However, a chop deal made with the eventual winner @Matias Ruzzi gave Vladislav the far larger cash of $377,428, which took him right to the top of the 2014 Bulgarian ranking by live earnings:
Day 4 of EPT Main Event starts today with two Bulgarians among the 102 survivors (of 1,496). @Rumen Nanev was one of the TWO Bulgarian finalists in EPT Vienna Main Event earlier this year. He starts Day 4 24th in chips and as one of the bigger stacks at Table 7:
7 1 Andrey Andreev 174,000
7 2 Przemyslaw Misztela 457,000

7 6 Mikkel Nielsen 232,000
7 7 Mikalai Pobal 163,000
7 8 Mauro Mancin 256,000
@Slaven Popov will be seated at Table 13 where he will have the biggest starting stack. Some of his notable opponents at the table are French WSOP 2014 bracelet winner @Hugo Pingray and PCA 2014 champion @Dominik Panka:
